Home Tips

While not everyone has access to products and equipment to hit mosquitoes hard like we do, there are a few things homeowners can do to help reduce their population and breeding success.

Tip 1: Search for water!

Mosquitoes lay larvae in standing water. Check your yard for puddles or overturned containers (kid’s toys, equipment, garbage lids, etc.) that are collecting water. If you can, reduce these as much as possible to lessen the population.

Tip 2: Clean your gutters!

Cluttered gutters are bound to happen - unfortunately, mosquitoes use these for their breeding as well. Installing guards or regularly cleaning these can reduce backups and help the water flow.

Tip 3: Plant repelling plants!

Plants such as citronella, lavender, lemongrass, marigolds, rosemary, catnip, bee balm, ageratum, peppermint, basil, and sage deter mosquitoes due to their potent fragrances. Time for a green thumb!
